Project Description

The cutting of hills at Asaba Airport in Oshimili South Local Government Area by the Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, is aimed at improving the safety, accessibility, and operational efficiency of the airport. The hill on both sides of the Airport Runway comprises of 1.15km length of hill on the right-hand side (RHS) with varying heights of between 5m - 10m and 1.3km length of hill on the left-hand side with varying heights of between 12m - 15m from the cliff base. The scope of works for cutting of the hill includes site clearance, removal of topsoil, earthworks comprising cutting of the hill, grassing and stone pitching.

This intervention will enhance aviation safety, ensure smoother aircraft take-off and landing, and support the expansion of airport infrastructure. It will also contribute to increased economic activities by improving connectivity, attracting investments, and promoting regional development within and beyond Asaba.
